This post, updated regularly, contains general tips for the Disney Parks in Florida and California.
Great Disney vacations aren’t about doing everything – they’re about making magical memories
Don’t stress about checking every ride off a list. Take time to watch the parade, enjoy your favorite snack, let the kids explore, or simply soak in the atmosphere. Those unplanned moments are often the ones you’ll remember most.
A well-planned trip isn’t about fitting in more. It’s about making the most of the time you have.
Pick a few must do activities for each day – you won’t be able to do everything
Start each park day by choosing just a few must-do attractions, shows, or experiences.
The truth is, you probably won’t be able to do everything—and that’s okay! Trying to squeeze it all in can leave everyone feeling rushed and exhausted.
Instead, focus on the experiences that matter most to your family. Once you’ve checked off your must-dos, everything else is a bonus! You’ll have more flexibility to enjoy spontaneous character sightings, grab a snack, browse the shops, or simply soak up the Disney magic.
A relaxed day with a few unforgettable moments is almost always better than a stressful day spent racing from ride to ride.
Try at least one treat that is unique to the Disney Parks
Disney World has so many unique things to eat!
Make it a goal to try at least one treat that’s unique to Disney! From a classic DOLE Whip® to Mickey-shaped snacks and EPCOT festival favorites, trying something new is part of the magic. You never know—you might discover your new favorite!
You are allowed to bring your own food in
Did you know you’re allowed to bring your own food and nonalcoholic drinks into the Disney parks?
Packing a few snacks, refillable water bottles, or even a simple lunch can save you money, keep everyone fueled throughout the day, and make it easier to accommodate dietary needs or picky eaters.
Just be sure to avoid loose ice (use reusable ice packs instead) and leave glass containers and alcohol at home.
Pack ponchos from home instead of buying them in the parks
Florida weather loves to keep you guessing and rain showers can pop up anytime.
Pack inexpensive ponchos before your trip instead of buying them in the parks. Afternoon rain showers are incredibly common, and having a poncho tucked into your backpack can save you money and keep the fun going without an unexpected shopping stop.
They’re also great for water rides! Throw one on before attractions like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Kali River Rapids to help keep your clothes drier so you’re not walking around soaked for the rest of the day.
Bonus tip: Pack a few extra ponchos—you’ll be everyone’s favorite person if a surprise shower catches your group off guard!
